ROAD TRIP TIME !!! We ventured out from our Las Vegas home and headed up to the heart of Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, California. We could have taken the usual route, 15 to the 58 over to the 5, but what would be the fun in that. At 4 am we hit the 95 north and headed out to the middle of nowhere up through Nevada. Indian Springs, Mercury and Amargosa Valley were the first three towns we came across. Beatty, NV was going to be the first stop but we got there so early the stores still weren’t open yet. The sun finally rose as we drove through Goldfield and headed into Tonopah. A quick stop for some video poker and breakfast and then we were back on the road. We went through Mina and Luning to get to one of my favorite towns, Hawthorne. Why you ask, well one sign says it all. “BEST DRAFT BEERS IN TOWN” !!! After our stop in one of the antique stores, we headed through Yerington and a handful of small towns to get to South Lake Tahoe. Lunch was at Sushi Pier and then we headed down the mountain. 4 hours after lunch and 12 hours after we started our trip, we picked up dinner for everyone and rolled into our destination. PaPa and GrauntMa finally got to meet our grandson, Hudson. Check out some pics of our trip below and look for some post on food and drinks that we had while out of town.
