Lone Mountain, located in the Northwest part of the valley, is a great hike that will give you a fantastic view of the city below. At the bottom of the mountain is a park with basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas and a huge grass field. You can walk, jog or bike on the path that circles the base of Lone Mountain, go straight to the peak or do both. You will start your trek up the mountain on the west side. This hike can be a little strenuous as you will climb over 500′ in less than 3/4 of a mile. There is a bench about a 1/4 of the way up if you want to take a little rest before you head for the peak. Be extra careful once on the peak as the top is very narrow and jagged. Once you reach the peak make sure to take a bit of time to relax and enjoy the view of the Las Vegas Valley. On a nice clear day you will be able to see all the way across it. Be sure to have a good pair of hiking shoes as you will trek over loose gravel. We wear Hiking Shoes made by Merrell. Very comfortable shoes with great gripping bottoms. Check out some other hiking options around Vegas right here. See you at the top !!
