If you find yourself driving north on Hwy 95 from Las Vegas, you will find an old gold mining town about 3 hours away called Goldfield. Once one of the largest cities in Nevada, today it is home to less than 200 people. A perfect town to get out and stretch your legs on your way though the desert. Take a peek at the abandoned and haunted Goldfield Hotel and be sure to stop in at the town’s watering hole, The Mozart Tavern. As you enter you will see the bar on the left, plenty of seating in the main section and a pool table in the back space. On warmer days or nights you can sit out front in the covered patio area. You can pose for a picture with some of the “original patrons” of the gold rush days, some sitting up front and a couple by the pool table. Try your luck at the few gaming machines they offer and even get a quick snack from the small food items they have. Grab a soda, a shot or a beer (they offer Original Coors!!!) and shoot a game of pool before you continue with your road trip.
This place is one of my favorites! The pool table in the back is amazing!
