We grabbed our passports, packed our bags, and hopped on a plane to the beautiful island of St. Lucia. We had an overnight connection thru Miami so we stayed in South Beach, grabbed some grub, sipped on a few cocktails and enjoyed a night out on the East Coast. The next morning our excitement could not be higher as we boarded our flight and headed to the Regency Le Toc, an all inclusive resort. The first night we settled in, stayed on the resort, had a delicious dinner where we were greeted by the “island cats,” and watched the entertainment that was put on by the staff.
Day 2 we headed into town, Castries, to check out the local shopping market and watering holes. This is where we came across a great little bar call Pensioners Corner. Make sure to stop by and grab some Chairman’s Reserve rum and hit up the best host in town, KC and talk about a little wrasslin’… You won’t be disappointed!!!
On our 3rd day we headed out on the Caribbean for some deep sea sport fishing. Although we were out with a group for over 3 hours only one bite was to be had and nothing was caught that day. We met a great couple from Austin, TX (Trevor and Lindsey Mays) while out at sea and can’t wait to visit with them in their great city or maybe out here in Vegas. That night we headed up to Gros Islet for the Friday Night Street Party. The first time the party was back in over two years and we were lucky enough to be there. The streets were filled with locals and tourist alike along with music, drinks and fresh St. Lucia cuisine were available all night.
Our day 4 was a day of relaxing and enjoying all the daily activities and entertainment the resort had to offer. Day 5 was supposed to be more of the same. While sitting on the beach enjoying the last day in paradise we were talked into fishing with Captain Rabbit. “Guaranteed to catch something” is what they said. Captain Rabbit pulled up to shore, picked us up and headed around the point. We dropped our hooks down about 150 – 200 ft and sure enough the Red Snapper started biting. We pulled up enough fish for some fresh cooked snapper on the beach including the “catch of the day” a 16 lb beauty of a fish. What was suppose to be an early night turned into early morning as we headed up to the piano bar. Frank the piano player and singer was awesome as was the best bartender on the resort, Vaughn.
We hailed a private driver when we headed back to the airport which turned out to be a great decision! Our driver, Derick, stopped at a few local stands and we got to try local fruit (soursop), a sea moss cocktail, and the freshest coconut water you will ever have. We just missed out on the best bread on the island as it was being baked in an open flame stone oven that wasn’t quite done.
The resort is full of daily activities and nightly shows. Country night was my favorite as were the two Karaoke nights up at Cricketers, the English Pub, that stayed open late. Getting out and seeing the Island is a must and with much more to see and do I can’t wait to get back !!!
